Response to the naive American Dreamer: Not if everybody who likes your idea finds a way to enjoy it with out paying for it.
Think about what you want as consumers: Do you want to just buy it and think that the same thing may happen for you and your hard work when you market your dream to the world, or do you want to have someone pretend to offer a thing for free, all the while they are busy installing tracking devices on your hard drive and spamming the shit out of you and your friends so that the price of the thing that you got for free is now distributed to your laundry detergent or your tires?
